    Rik's Super Class Crawler Build

So here's the super i am in the middle of building. made the chassis out of 6061 - T6 aluminum. i cut the links to size on a fadal vmc. they are 1/4" C1018 steel. i just need to figure out what rod ends i wanna use. when i figure that out, it's off to the lathe where i will spin the diameter down on the ends and thread them. the wheel base should be around 16.5" to 17". i still have to make servo mounts, steering links, wheel adapters, body mounts, and a bunch of other stuff that i cant think of right now. then i need the electronics, wheels, rims, and motors, ect... i plan on using dual ecs's and 4WS...

These pics are just a basic layout...

it's already apparent to me that i need more link mounting holes. back to the machine i go!

Cool, body seems a little heavy for a comp rig.

Re: Rik's Super Class Crawler Build

thanks guys. its a very slow moving project. i work on it here and there. the shop i work at is very busy right now. so it's hard to squeeze "government - work" (aka my projects) ahead of, well, work - work. and yea, that body is way too heavy. it's the stock clod body. i just put it next to the layout for a size comparison to show how much length will be add from the stock clod. was just looking at it again this evening and figure the wheelbase to be around 17" -18".. we'll see.
