    IFS LR3 Rock Racer

I am toying with the idea of building a IFS Bug rock racer this winter. I want to make this 1.9 scale, but make it very capable. So far I am in the thinking stage. I like some of the ideas that I saw with the Dorkstar Hybrid. I have a list of components that I might use for the project, but I wanted to throw it to the forum for suggestions.

My general thoughts are for a IS front and a solid axle rear. Most likely a 2 speed tranny, but I am up in the air as to the best one. I think I would use a SCX10 chassis, but not sure if I can graft the IS front on it successfully. The body is the only certain item. I want the Baja body and I want to keep the fenders. I want to make this think "legal" to run in scale comps.

I see the KOH bug has bit you too. Maybe go with the 2.2 Lox?

    Re: IFS Bug Rock Racer

Ok, I am starting to collect parts for my winter build. I am using my old Axial rims and I picked up a used Rx. Once I get my ESC back from CC I will have a Sidewinder to add to the mix. The problem is I am up in the air about what body to use. My first thought was a baja body, but now I am second guessing myself, any suggestions from the peanut gallery.

I think I am going with a Traxxas two speed trans mounted up front and a transfer case. That will give me a lot more room to build an interior and shift the weight up front. I am also going to build my own chassis around whatever body I get.

    Re: IFS Bug Rock Racer

I looked around on the net and the only "cheap" thing that caught my eye was this. It looks like the same thing just with a different paint scheme. It's another New Bright body, but this one does not have an interior. I think I could cut the front windows and make an interior just for the front. That would cut down on the weight a bit. I think the red one might be better, so I don't have to get the paint off the back window if I repaint it. Let me know what you think.

a lr3 rock racer....hmmm sounds pretty interesting. id say get the one without the crap on the window

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." -Thomas Jefferson

Yeah, I would need to put an exo-cage on it. I think I am going to go with the red one. Not exactly a full blown out rock racer! I want to make it a scaler, so I need a body not just a roll cage.

I finally made a decision on the body and got the orange/red?? Land Rover LR3 body. It is a little more bulky than I was looking for, but the look is awesome to me. Never been much of a truck guy, so this is a good compromise for me. Now the used parts hunt begins.
