    Metal Honcho bumper/sliders

A fellow club member had kindly asked me to make him a set of sliders and a bumper for his Honcho. I've been working on them all week and finally got some time to post the progress.

He wanted them to look like the original so i started with some tube and tacked it together to see how it looked

satisfied, i needed a way to mount the bumper and the winch so i bent up some sheet metal to fit nicely in the frame rails

then i mounted the winch and tucked it back into the body

next i added the tabs to hold the aluminum panels

then finally i welded it to the winch plate, added tabs for the lights, and brazed it all up.

Next is to blast it, drill and tap the holes for the panels and paint.
    Then onto the sliders

He wanted these to look like the originals but i deviated from the plastic ones a little as i couldn't replicate the really tight bends. I started with some solid rod for the outside and tube for the main section

Then cut tabs out of heavy plate

welded tubing to them and attached them to the chassis

    then tacked on the slider

finally i finish welded everything including the ends of the tube.

Blast and paint and they are ready to install.

I'll get some finished shots up once everything is painted.

    Got them painted and mounted.

    And some body off shots

And everything mounted just like the original sliders

Nice quick project and fun as well.

    very nice.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." -Thomas Jefferson
