    6x6 Extreme Camping Van

I have been wanting to do this project for well over a year and a half. Finally cobbled together enough parts to get started. A few gift cards for Christmas got me enough pieces to start.

It is based on an SCX10 chassis, that will be lengthened 2". The rear wheels will be drive only, with no steering. Going to borrow the walking beam set up from Quirk.

Here is my inspiration. I am thinking about building a bed area instead of just stretching the van though.

This is what I have so far. A lot of the parts are still in the mail. As you can see I am missing a tire.

Looks like a great start. The walking beam looks good
Are you using a Lunchbox body as a donor? It wouldn't be a hard stretch

Thanks, it took me a lot of time to figure out how I wanted the walking beam. Not sure about the body, but that may be an option.

Here are some update photos. Tabs soldered on and some more suspension work complete.

    Looks great

I saw a Clod body to van mod on another forum (for ideas) if you feel like trying some extreme styrene mods. It was a neat idea and a lot of work but it turned out nice

Wow, that turned out great. Is that the lunchbox body. Who makes it?

No, it "was" a Clodbuster Chevy body that was severely cut up. The second picture shows a Lunchbox body sitting on top of the Clod/Van
Let me me see if I can find the measurements on a Lunchbox body, it may work with MRC axles

    Edit:
    Tamiya Lunchbox
5 3/4" wide at wheel well flares
    8" WB

I have a couple things that may help with your build.

A set of rockers like those that are on my Mack and a carrier setup, since it looks like you will need one with the length of your skid and how far forward the trans is if you decide to keep the front axle live. I also have some shims (somewhere) to put on the MRC outputs to adapt to 1/10 size driveshaft yokes.
All yours for free if you want, since you are one of the 3-4 people on here that are actually building something.
