    xr10 question

I got a XR10 and have some questions. I did a lot of research but always come up with different answers.
I know there are lots of choices of what to do and depending on what you want to spend.

basically I want to know what to do to this to get started and do ok in comps with out going completely broke

I would like to show up to a comp and kinda look like I know what I am doing instead of looking like a fool with a bucket of bolts.

Sedona white dot tires white dots in or out?
the tires on ones side say a-b other side says b-a what's the difference?

what about foams stock or something else?
stock rims what about weight how much ?
what style can I run both?

currently I am using this plus 2 .75 oz on each wheel so total of 3-1/2 in each wheel but I can go up to 6-1/2 oz per wheel

I know there is axle weight but somewhat pricey.

move battery out front for more weight.
I am sure I have plenty more questions .
    so lets start with this

    Cheap, Needed mods..

Traxxas brass business in the tranny gear cap and under the link mount.
It will save you headaches with the tiny bearings and gears last longer.

2 screw mod to the rear axle.
    It saves gears..

    One piece tie rod..

    VP Knuckle's, for better steering.

The stock wheels work better narrowed. To a 1" width.. Or just skip them and go with some disc wheels or CI 6-Boltz.. Like 24$ a set..
Then you need hubs.. Shift hubs from BC brian or VP Slw hubs..

As for A or B side.. Just run all 4 the same direction. Lol..
I'm not sure which side is better.
I don't know Any stock foams that work, well, they work, just not good..
CI foams for the win.. 24-26$ for a set. Well worth the coin.

Plenty more, that's just all I got for now

XR10 is still a good axle, some parts are getting harder to find since they were discontinued by Axial. There are some upgrades out of the box that make the axles better, RC4WD gears is a good place to start. There are several vendors on RCC that make axles. Also RC4WD makes a comp axle set RTR out of the box that has gotten good reviews. I will be switching to those next season. Crawler Innovations is the place to get your foams, they also run a combo on wheels. PM Eddie, he knows the best setup. Sadonas are a good tire, Everyone runs them in different directions. The more weight you put in the wheels the tougher it is on gears, a good balance between knuckle weight and wheel weight is a good idea.

Cant beat dual esc, you have to have a TX that can run it. I have 30t motors on my XR.

Can't go some with some Holmes motors.
I prefer the 5 slot crawl type motors. Crawlmaster pro's, team pro crawls, 500 puller's..

Super smooth start-up, great punch an awesome wheel speed!

A nice 16t Team pro crawl, is a awesome motor all around to get you started, from a 55t, IMO..

I have dual fxr's sitting in a box, if you want to get a cheap dual ESC setup. Shoot me a pm.

Edit.. Lol, just realized, I have a matched set of HH 16t crawlmaster pro's, fresh back from HH, still in the plastic..

If you are on a tight budget you can get integy 35 turn motors they usually run about $15-17. If you are serious go with what Troy suggested. Sometimes you have to save and wait to get what you want.
