Need Help planning an event to raise money for breast cancer.

Hey Guys, I was recently invited to be part of a planning committee to plan a Jeep event called Jeeps Jams 4 Jugs that raises money for Breast cancer. The event only started three years ago and it has been pretty small the past two years. They are trying to make the event bigger this year and make it fun for all.

At one point during the conversation, they mentioned that there are always women and kids at Jeep events that never have anything to do and they are usually bored. Someone brought up RC Cars and asked if anyone had any. I said I know a few guys that MIGHT have some of those toys. That is where all of us come in.

They asked if we could possibly set something up like, I think SVSC, did at the York Jeep show and let some kids play with some rigs. I know most of us don't just want anyone playing with our rigs because they aren't cheap. But I also know I have one or two extras laying around that are just trail rigs anyway so why not let a kid have fun with it for a few minutes. If you are interested, that would be awesome!

This is completely in the planning stages so I am open to any and all suggestions from anyone on this site. The event is on June 7th so I have lots of time to plan. I talked to Slick and he is going to see if there are any comps planned for that day. At this point, I am not sure where the event is going to take place so I am not even sure what could be set up. But it would be awesome if some of you could come out and set some things up and let some kids play. We could even set up a tent with the EPA banner and just make it a fun day of hanging out...and hey, if you have a 1:1 rig, bring it out and help the cause.

Here were MY thoughts with helping out the cause and any others are more than welcome to help me if you would like. I planned to raise money for this anyway, so why not do something fun and absolutely AWESOME with that money! All the money I raise could go to buy an Axial RTR kit, hopefully the Rubi RTR (even though it is the most expensive) because it is a Jeep event. Then take the body and have it custom painted with a breast cancer ribbon and the event name. Then at the event, sell raffle tickets for $5-$10 (more if people think it would be possible) and give any money that is raised through that raffle to the event. Just something fun since I am doing the RC part of the event.

Like I said, I am still in planning stages so please tell me what you guys think or give me ideas that you think might be better. I will take everything into consideration and bring it up to the event organizers. Please please please please help! Thank you all!!

    -Cody

Just let me know. If I am available, I will do my best to show up. Will this be coinciding with breast cancer awareness month?

Active - Thank you a lot! The date is set for June 7th. I am not sure of a time yet because they haven't decided. They were tossing around a few times and I think they settled on 11. I will keep everyone updated on this.

Wes - This is not coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month because that is in October. The event is in June when it is warmer and jeepers can come with tops off.

BAMFR - That is a sweet rig! Definitely bring that thing out! I think there will be a registration fee for those bringing full size rigs as a way to raise money but for those only coming with toys to have fun and entertain some kids, you shouldn't have to pay a registration fee. I will make sure of that at the next meeting we have for planning the event.

I like the tops off idea! Need to implement that rule for the women.

Well it is a breast cancer event...I'll stop there.

Thank you to those that are willing to help and possibly come out to the event at this point. I know it is a long ways away so I will keep everyone updated through this thread. One problem I see is, what are we going to play with the trucks on? If we are in a parking lot or field, what could we set up to show off the trucks? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, so I figured I would pull this thread back out and give a few updates. Hoping a few of you can make it out.

The time is set for 11am on June 7th. I would love for as many of you as possible to come out. As I said, bring out the scalers if you are willing to let some kids play with them. Honestly, it doesn't like like there will be a whole lot in terms of terrain to crawl on, but it doesn't take a whole lot to amuse a child with an rc car. Even if they are driving around a bit in the grass, they would be pretty darned happy I would think.

I am going to contact the organizers to see if their are any more updates tomorrow and will relay them to everyone here. I would love to be able to get some club members out there to hang out for the day and support a great cause. If you are in, please let me know and how many rigs you can bring along so I can start getting some numbers together for the organizers.

As I said before, I would love for members to come out and represent our club for a good cause and maybe get some others involved in our hobby. We always like new members.

And of course if you have a 1:1 Jeep, bring it along and enter one of the show categories. If you are bringing a Jeep and entering a show category, it is $15.00 per category and $5 per vehicle. If you are coming just to hang out, admission is by donation. Here is some more info about the event and a link to their Facebook event.

If you have questions, please ask away and I will see what I can do to get you some answers.
