National level discussion on comps and attracting new members.

    http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/usrcc...uggetions.html

This is something we need to start looking into. The 2014 season will be different than past seasons. We will continue to run our large events like the RCrocs and The Northeast National Qualifier and the scheduled comps, however we need to increase participation in the fun events like the G6, GTGs, camp outs and Crawltoberfest. The new scale group in the area Crawling Tough RC is a group that we should work together with. With similar interests and goals it seems silly not to. As always I am open to suggestions from everyone to increase our visibility and how we can better get our name out there. I am very proud of this club and its members and all the things we have been able to do since 2010, I want it to continue and grow.

Sounds like something we need to think about?
How about some input from the guys at Crawling Tough RC? Seems a logical place to start to find out what they are looking for, what it would take to get them coming to some club sponsored events and what it would take to have combined participation in GTG's?

We look forward to working with EPA this season. The course and track is where we can showcase to the public and spark some interest in rc. We are planning an opening day event and would like EPA to do an exhibition on the course. We are just trying to get more people into the crawling side of the hobby at this point. I know about 6 racer that own crawlers and would love something to do between rounds of a race day.

I plan on making EPA events this season. It will be limited due to my work schedule and the track duties.

I think working together with Crawling Tough RC is a step in the right direction. One of my peeves is the seemingly increase in "seperation" between Scalers and Comp Crawlers. Members of EPA going and supporting what those guys are doing will be beneficial to the hobby and vise versa. It can be a good way for some to gain a new interest that otherwise they may have never thought about. While I know most of us already have scalers, someone may get a taste of short course racing and really enjoy it. Not knowing if anyone from CTRC has comp crawlers (assuming they don't) they may get a taste of running a Sporty and really enjoy it. Cooperation from every corner will be beneficial to the growth of not only EPA and CTRC, but the hobby in general.

how do you make media aware of what we do. its been tried r/c, driver did a few specials on it. havent seen much from them lately. news papers dont care, what we do isnt anything earth shattering. i once had an idea for a crawl for the cure. set up something and give all entry fees to the cure for cancer. no one was interested. tv news, news papers. years ago we did a gtg at the ok4wd store in nj. we gained a few members, same with rausch creek.
i think our first nenq went over quite well. this club in 3 or so years has done a lot. prizes for major events, exposure on rcc. those that are able to devote the time to this are what made us move forward. so thank you for all that you do. i wont list names so i dont forget someone but there are a few who spend hours making calls and sending emails. i would love to see more exposure on tv about r/c crawling or scalers. more in magazines.
more to come so i'll edit later. have to get things ready for work.

I thought there was a rc channel?

It may have been on direct tv or the dish but I do not remember.

Yes times are tought and airtime is expensive.

maybe this could be brought up to the bigger supplieres and companies to get their name out there.

I know my local hobby store is has been trying to get more people into crawling and have been putting on some local barn crawls. The name of the store is the hidden hanger maybe we could post event schedules in there store with a cool flier showing off our awesome rigs to draw attention.

I feel the main draw back is that we as a club are so spread out. For instance I regularly drive 3 to 6 hrs round trip to comp my rigs and hang out with other members. I'm not sure how to remedy this or if its even possible to. I'm only saying it takes a diehard crawler to want to do this.
