    Building a class 1for fall season

    Just wondering what my options for bodies. looking for something somewhat unique, i already have a jeep. Any ideas ? Also wondering about wheel and tire options.

    Best bet is an MRC chassis and any body that fits. Just grab a tape measure and start hitting up Kmart, Wal-Mart, yard sales, thrift store,etc... until you find one that fits and you like.

    updates...

    Got the chassis built. had to figure out how wide to make it. Shocks in the front sit inside the frame. im going to try working on that.


    Got it 3 linked and just didnt feel right so ended up 4 linking and its much more stable


    Had to make a spacer to make the scx shafts work on the MRC axles



    Got motor and trans in wanted to go with a 380. I dont know this this motor and esc will work its pretty fast but i can tune the esc hopefully I will be able to get it to creep right now its idiot fast.


    Shot of the rear, im going to put wood decking into the flatbed. probably paint the tubes black. dont know what im doing with the cab yet, I kind of like the tan but it matches the jeep.

    got the electronics in


    This afternoon I pushed the rear axle out a little so now it sits in the middle of the bed making the wheelbase 10"
    I'm welcome all suggestions, including "start over, you're an idiot"

    I would like to find a way to lower the body slightly, im going to move the mounting point of the rear shocks up a little bit.

    I also have this weird clicking noise in the drive train. the trans sits pretty high. I'd like to do lights, nothing crazy. I also need to move the trans over to the passenger side more so it will move the heavy *** motor more to the center.

    When in doubt read the scale rules for the class you are building. I think it looks great so far.

    After talking to slick and looking at Wes' build I think the Dlux shock/link mounts are the way to go, however they are out of stock. From what I can tell from the Dlux site and Wes' pictures the new link attaches to the C-hub.


    Also pinched the front frame. I guess this is the advantage of using delrin. Took the rail spacers off and took 1/4 inch off each side and reinstalled.

    So after missing my goal of comping c1 yesterday I want to be 100% by the next comp, I guess im making my own. The outside of the C-hub is about the same dia of this sharpie.


    A little solder and call it a day. Put one in the middle for options also in case one breaks in the field I can just put it in the extra slot.


    Here it is installed with the lower link attached. Got both sides on and was having a binding issue, but a little hacking to the axle and it fixed itself. The Dlux mounts you have to remove the old shock and link mounts, for this I just removed the shock mounts.


    Both sides installed. going to rotate the axle do the drive shaft isn't at such an extreme angle.


    I have a sweet helmet cam I got for my motorcycle. I wanted to put it inside the jeep for a FPV but its way huge even with the waterproof case off. I'd have to take the rear seats out and even then it would be a tight fit. It isn't that heavy so I am going to make a balsa crate and strap or chain it to the bed. I would also like to make stake pockets. Not sure what I am going to use for binders or strap/chain. Ideas?

    Would this be a functional scale accessory? Also probably going to make some under-the-bed tool boxes to go against the cab just to hide the frame.

    Two options here. A metal brace that runs a few inches past the servo. Second would be to re-cut the one side so it is way thicker. The pan hard will help, but you would probably still get some twist. I had this same problem on my G6 rig. Ended up swapping to aluminum.

    thanks for the advice! I put this peice in tonight and it seems to be helping. still having issues. Going to cut another piece of delrin bar stock tomorrow and slide it behind between the rails but behind the shocks (if that makes sense) hopefully that will keep everything square in the back? Also gives me a spot to mount eletronics. Will see how it does this weekend, If it fails horribly sunday im going to re cut the rails!

    this truck is all trial and error, Quirk, next step is to start working on a styrene body ! one step at a time

    Got the body fitter tonight just a little bit more to do and will be ready to roll for sat. Steering isn't solved by any means but it steers for now. Should be interesting as always. The blue paint is darker, got washed out a bit with the lights and flash.


    I would like to styrene some toolboxes under the bed to close up the back of the cab
