Sick of you guys having all the fun! Troyota build..

Ok guys, I like scale but not always my main concern. Well, I'm concerned! Concerned I'm missing out on the fun of scale'n...

It's all John, Wes, and some of the other guys fault! Those night runs at Rausch are a blast!
Now I want to play more scale too...

Anywho.. I've had this rig for over a year.. :/ I got it rtr, once, for 5 mins.. Then a xvd broke.. Well, as that's the "upgrade" on the market, I wasn't happy! So it sat.. And sat... And sat.......

It's running a HH 13t Team pro crawl, WP Brxl, WP airtronics rx, Hitec 7950 and a CC bec.

I have raised and moved the chassis plate forward. Direct mounted the transfer case to said plate, in a new, flipped/rotated(for OD), location and got rid of the skid/transfer case bash guard all together.

Last year, at this time, I did the body and the paint.. Filled holes, sanded, primed with rust red, covered in silver and then the final color, graphite something or other.. Lol..
It looks like a pearl charcoal gray..
Put a couple decals on, a interior in it, and called it good..

Tinted the rear window, with real car window tint. "Rolled" the driver side window down all the way and the passenger side down just a little.

Metal F/R bumpers, metal sliders, and #32/#36 chain links for shooter shackle's.

The esc, rx, and bec are all under/up in the seats.. Battery will lay across the floor.(it's not easily seen, when is rtr)

Which now has us all up to date from April of 2014 to now.. As of a couple weeks ago..

I started moving this truck around, yet again! I decided enough was enough.. The little story I got from VP about TF2 vvd's (which Jimmy-fest told me wouldn't happen) didn't happen.. Lol..

Weeeellllllllll... I have a dremel, there are many like it, but this ones mine! And I like to use it. ; )

Off came the front axle. (Of the TF2 and my XJ).

Drilled the TF2 C's and test fitted.. Hmm, maybe wraith steering!? Nah makes it too wide. (Unless I loose Alot of axle)

Here's the xvd "upgrade".. Yes, most have good luck with them..

I drilled the C's out till I got the fitment, with a bearing, that I wanted. It was to the C clip area.

Then cut off the bell end.

    And the front shock mounts

    Here goes mach up..

The scx axle shaft didn't give me the locker engagement that I wanted..

So the axle shafts came out of the Sexo..

One cut per side.. Lucky lucky!

Tangs grinded in and locker back together..

Today... I drilled the 2 holes in the C's and tapped them for 4mm set screw's.
I also drilled 2 holes top and bottom for 3mm set screw's.

Mounted/had the axle mounted and final test fit..

I didn't gain in the steering department, Much, but I can have All I wants!

The leaf springs don't see it that way tho. See the lug into the leaf..

Anyways, I didn't do the mod for the steering. I did it for the peace of mind that I can run this thing without breakage! Atleast not breaking the steering.. Lol..

Now to get the servo back in and get a tie rod an drag link setup, that works.

Get the shift servo mounted back up, somewhere, somehow..

Mount the CI Lil Nova foams in the 1.55 Growler's, on the 1.9 Rc4wd DC wheels.

And get ready to cringe when I get the first scratch on it, roll it, or slam into the first rock!

Very nice work on the front axle. You may have just come up with the biggest upgrade for the OG TF2 front axle problems

Great write up. Truck looks awesome, but does need a scratch or two. This scale season should be a blast.

Great work on the rig. I am interested to see how the 13t responds in a scale rig. I agree with Wes it needs some beauty marks. Don't worry the first couple of scratches and scrapes are the worst.

Thanks John! I hope it's the last axle upgrade I have to do! Lol..
It was actually pretty fun. I really do enjoy my "OCD" (obsessive crawler dremeling)..

Thanks Wes, I'm sure it will get is fair share of scratches. If not on the rocks, we can have a RC demolition derby! Lol..
I'm ready for some scale fun!

Thanks John, from what I got to run the rig, the 13t is pretty saaweeet! The smooth start-up really helps with the drive train slop.
It can crawl and Run in both gears, which I can see as a bonus!

Hopefully.. With the paint layering, the first scratches will look like they go to raw metal, then to rust.. I'm ready for the scratches an scrapes!

    Wiring was fun and rewarding!

I normally cut a 6-8" length off the bec rx wires and solder it back to the board. Then crimp male pins and a female end on the OG wire's.. It creates a inline "Y" harness type-a-thing.. I just plug the servo into the female and the re soldered end to the rx..
Anywho.. I decided to make a "Y" harness of my own, for this rig, as weight isn't a concern, like a comp rig..

All plugged in and ready to roll..

It's pretty neat how it all fits.

    And mounted..

    Motor wires.. What motor wires!?

Top view and steering.. Steering makes me smile!

    Found my rear driveshaft.

This gets me down to tie rod, drag link, shift servo, and front shock mount made..
Other then that, it's ready to get some character!

Ok, one of my favorite parts of this rig, other then looks and steering.. Lol..

Getting rid of the rock hanging, ground clearance killing, transfer case skid!

This could Easily be a class 2 runner, with a quick tire/wheel swap!

So last night I started throwing links at it. I have to get measurements for ti steering links to be made by my man Purp..

    No laughing!!! Lmao!

I swapped out the front foams for some CI 4.25" shorty Lil Nova foams..
They seem a little stuffed so I only did 2.. Thinking, if it's too stuffed, I can narrow the outers on the other 2 for the front.
But I can actually feel the added grip of the tires, just by running my fingers over the tread!
Like, instead of the tread folding over and turning into a slick, the tread stays solid and each lug grips and grabs!

So out to the rocks I went! Woo whooo!!!!

For a little anyways.. the overdrive is more noticeable then OD/UD gears in my comp rig!
With that overdrive comes a hung up rear.. Which follows..

No worries. Back up plan and wheels turning in the right direction already!
