Class 1 TF2

I didn't take any pics during the build. It's just a stock Trail Finder 2. I plan on keeping it leaf sprung, but I'm already thinking of ways to improve the suspension. Here's how she sits now:







No, it isn't painted yellow, that's the color the of the plastic. Also, the bed was twisted in the pics, that's been fixed. A few minutes in the oven and it's all better. Not sure how I'm gonna paint it. I'm thinking a few mismatched panels, and some good rust/rot along the bottom. This will be an ongoing project. I will comp it, but I'm mostly interested in making this thing as scale as possible, with it's performance taking a backseat to looks.

Still need to install electronics but I hope it will be ready for the next comp.

Did some painting today. It's almost finished. I still need to add weathering effects, but this is what it looks like now.









The rust will look much more realistic when it gets weathered. I just need to pick up the supplies so I can do it.

Wow, that looks like a big old POS. I guess that is what you were going for though. I want to do somehting similar with the Rustang, but lack any artistic talent! Great job.

Thanx Wes, I'll take that as a compliment. That is exactly what I was going for. I figured it's more realistic, at least as far as the vehicles I've seen on trails. There aren't many pristine vehicles out there on the trails, unless someone's been drinking and there's a a bet made.

Anyways, I did some weathering. Here's a few more pics.













Looks like that right bed side could be replaced, it's pretty rotten.

Ok, it'll be ready for Saturday's comp. although, it will probably be the first chance I get to drive it. I'll be totally guessing on the motor/gearing. I'm going to try the 20t with stock gearing. Since it's a speed, I figure one of the gears should be close enough.

So, I had it to the comp today. I couldn't be happier with the way it worked. She's very stable, sidehills and vert climbs are real nice. There isn't much flex but it still seems to work. It's big compared to the other class one trucks, that has advantages and disadvantages. I do need to upgrade the drive shafts. All in all, it's gonna be interesting with some more drive time.
