    tcase

Ok, got the tcase in the mail today. Snapped a pic. Going to try to keep the clearance in the center as high as possible and I want to mount the mrc motor and tranny under the hood. To I will make a flat pan out of the metal that I have. Cut out a spot for the tcase to come down through. Then I will have a skid plate to protect it. I will fab a channel in between the seats just like the real subes have. I need to learn how to frame mount a servo.

But here's the pic of the fit.

First of all.... MX GAS FOR THE WIN!! Holy crap, that stuff made brazing so much faster and easier!

Here some pix of how the motor and tranny will actually mount in upside down.

I got the pan bent into shape and welded the motor mount on.

    motor mount welded up
    IMG_20120223_195834.jpg

Here is where I need the help. Can I have upper and lower links mount to the same hole on the frame?
    IMG_20120223_201846.jpg
Here is some shots of how it may go.
    IMG_20120223_201925.jpg

I saw somewhere else where some did just bottom links and a pan hard bar. Wasn't sure if that might better? I would like to frame mount the servo next to the tranny, but I have never done it before. Course I have never done anything like this before.

I wouldn't recommend using the same mounting hole. The pinion angle will change greatly through the swing. LOVE the Brat body. I grew up on os Tamiyas and had to use one for my scaler. Only prob is that most all of em have a 9.75 wb. that's why I chose the Bug, cause the fenders were the easiest to open up. Next prob for me was fitting the motor/tranny under the small hood and still having room for the frontend to move un n down. Truck body guys (Dingo, JK) have it easy! Looks great Ryan.

well I think I worked that out. Just have to build it. The servo mounts in front of the engine. The links sets should end up about and inch or 1/2 inch apart with the uppers being more forward of the lowers. Very similar to stock MRC is what I am basing it off of. The shocks have to come back at a steepish angle to not hit the motor, but I think it will work. It's going to be tight under that tiny little hood. Also, I have to custom make some drive shafts. I am going from MRC to Axial (on the tcase) and back to MRC again. After everything else, that looks like it will actually be the easy part.

More pix of the build as I move along.
Here is the frame rail I am bending to shape and the "pan". This thing might be a tad heavy when finished.
    IMG_20120227_223329.jpg
This is the motor/tranny and servo mount welded to the pan.

    IMG_20120224_112608.jpg

Slowly and steadily. Today I got the front shock mounts welded on. Hopefully I can finish the other frame rail and get to putting the link brackets on.

Through some trading, I got a C channel chassis that was a truggy. I put the torch to it. :-D
This is going to work so much better for my brat scaler.
