    Venom w/DIG and OTA Stearing

I finaly recieved my DIG and got it instaled... I had to use the back half of the batery tray to mount the servo but that will go away once I have my new chassie machined.

    Here's the pictures.

I took the old short links from the rear and cut them down to about and inch do give me the nesicary clearance, I put the 0 degree angle on the connecting rog and a strait with a 25 degree turn to the servo.

Awesome. Does the dig work good? Those links for steering look like they woudl rub. You need a steer arm like the Losi has. The servo rod connect to the middlish of the arm joining both wheels. This would allow you to keep the links near the tires lower.

Did you just turn everything around to get the steering set-up or is that a kit?

I just turned everything around... I did have to drill the servo mounts to get the servo back far enough and choped up a link to get the clearance I needed in the back... It works but I might get a peace of breakline and make it all one peace for the connecting rod because the upright posts don't like to stay put once I ment them to not rub.

I got inspired and finally researched and ordered a BTA steering kit for my Axial. I hope it comes in soon!

i too am inspired. gonna think of a way to do OTA on my rig. i like the way you did yours. it's a nice and clean looking set up. how much extra pressure is there on the knuckle now that the linkage is raised an inch? and how are ya liking the dig???

ok the ota I did... humm... not so good. I was experiencinf a loss in servo power so I put her up on my desk and this is what I noticed. since the rod ends formed almost a 90 degree angle before going down to turn knuckle, the servo was putting more pressure at the top of the conector than down at the turn knuckle to cause it to turn... basicaly the ridiged angle was too much and applying the pressure in all the wrong places... to fix this I think I will need the connecting rod to be one unit with slight angles but must be connected at the turn knuckle.... with that said I'm back to normal stearing... It was a good Idea in theory but that's what I get for not fully understanding leavers and tourq and that kinda stuf... back to the drawing board.

The dig is awesome, still tweeking the servo position to get it to work with my 3rd chanel properly.

That is basically what I was saying when I saw the pix. What you need is a bent link that goes up over the axle. You want the ends of that link to be as close the turn knuckle as possible to reduce that bind. Then your servo will actually connect the connecting rod and not the turn knuckle. This will give you better control of the steering with less power being needed to move the wheels.
