    Re: Losi Night Crawler/PTI Build

    thanks again guys...

so here's what i got lined up for tomorrow......

i got three 4' sections of 1/4" 6061-T6 aluminum rod today. (one still at work, and ya can never have enough of this stuff) i also picked up a pack of traxxas revo rod ends. (part # 5347) i got the math worked out, so i'm ready to spin new lower links tomorrow. if all goes well, i'll be updating this thread tomorrow with pics of the rig with new lower links.

I have a set of 2.2 flat irons on Axial wheels if you are interested. Already weighted.

I currently run about 6oz in each front, non in the back. Seems to work good.

UPDATE Re: Losi Night Crawler/PTI Build

so i spun two sets of lower links today. again, i used 1/4" diameter 6061-T6 aluminum rod. i used traxxas revo rod ends. to connect it all together i used 8-32 set screws. i polished the links to give it that nice new look for the rocks...

here's a pic of 2 links assembled and two completely unassembled.

here are two pics of the front links assembled on the rig. one side view and on bottom view. you can see in the side view the ground clearance gained. not much. but any little bit helps, right?

and finally the whole rig assembled with the new links..again, one side view and one bottom view.

the new links are exactly the same as the stock ones, just aluminum and a lot more durable. every thing bolted right up with no complications.. all in all i am very pleased with the out come of this....

thank you. though, from what i can see bent links may not be so easy, due to drive shaft interference. i'm not saying it's not possible. but, it may require going back to CVD's. which, now that i got the sliders on, i am not going back to CVD's.

    Re: Losi Night Crawler/PTI Build

so i went out and hit the rocks just now with the new links on. and they performed great. better ground clearance, and they dont get hung up like the stock delrin links. the stockers, when rubbed on rocks, scrape up very easily. this in turn leaves a burr protruding from the link, which causes the rig to get hung up. the aluminum pretty much glides across the rocks. dont get me wrong, the aluminum will scrape, but not as easy as the stockers. very happy with the new links...

here's some pics i took on the rocks...

have i mentioned how freakin' ugly that body is???
