    Jeepers Creepers

(Thanks to JSLICK) I bought a $10 1/10 RC jeep toy at target today that just happens to fit a stock wheelbase micro crawler perfectly. After some modifications to the body, I was able to mount it up and finally add some details to make it more realistic. Here are some pics...

    After:

It's a little top heavy but I think it looks pretty kickarse. The black paint on the fenders is starting to scratch off from the rocks, though. Parma isn't the best paint to put on the outside of bodies

Good point there. I was able to lower it 1/2" (can't go lower because of how low the jeep interior is). Looks a lot better and the tires rub the fenders But I just ran out of servo tape, even though the stuff I got was supposed to last the whole roll (the last few inches weren't supposed to get stuck on the roller, but it did.)

I made a ghetto mounting plate with clear plastic packaging stuck to the bottom side of the body with the edges bent down with holes for the mounts. Even though it's thin, it's still very sturdy...

If you take a look at mine I was able to sit it lower and cut out part of the interior and then put a new seat and driver in.

The problem with going lower is the tires will rub the fenders like crazy (DP torsion chassis=full droop setup) unlike the full sprung setup like you have. I ended up scraping the plastic mount idea and just using vel-cro. Seems to work a lot better and it's easier to re-position the body. I also removed the fake spare wheel and mounted one of the wheels that came on the toy. I wish there was some way of permanently making the fenders black. The paint peeled right off and I used a sharpie on it, hopefully it'll hold up better than the paint.
