a bit of progress with this. i was having an issue with the hpi GRU and its output shaft having such a small OD that it couldn't turn a standard sized drive shaft.

So I got to thinking and had a light bulb moment. So i grabbed a small section of 3/16 brake line and test fit the piece in the drive shaft yoke, it was just the right size. Drilled out the brake line piece to fit the output shaft of the GRU and viola

at this point i still need to figure out how to mount the yoke, but most likely will just drill the brake line and use the half pin half set screws. I did also squeeze the tubing over the GRU output shaft to give it a flat spot so the brake line will not spin on the output shaft. I can still remove the brake line if i have to pull the GRU apart down the road.

    Got real progress.

Motor and GRU mounted. I still need to trim the mount a little bit yet.

Still need to make a servo mount and find a spot for the electronics box.

    Mandatory flex shot

    Or two

Hopefully I can get the servo mounted soon so I can get this thing going. I also need to decide on a color shortly. I think I may clear coat this one, I'm not sure. Guess we'll have to see...

This looks awesome. Is that an hpi gru? I'm digging how the motor and gru are mounted up front.

Yea it's hpi, this is my first front mounted motor rig and it suuure did put alot of weight up front. I'm curious to see how it's gonna run. Did some in house testing with just the throttle and it looks like I should have some decent wheelspeed as well. I should also have a decent "drag brake" with the GRU as well. Friggin thanksgiving, it could be running today.

Looks great Marc, I like that you made it a front engine chassis- you'll get true scale performance (good and bad!). We'll have to get together over the winter to test n tune for next season.
