my new toy showed up today. i tinkered with it a little bit tonight. i got the servo mounted up and the paint done. servo is a 208 oz. off-brand. I had a new aluminum servo mount, so that went on as well. the reedy stump puller came on friday. now, i'm waiting for the micro sidewinder.

Nice I heard these thing got reduced in price and was thinking about picking one up. I'm lookin forward to see how this turns out.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." -Thomas Jefferson

I asked for one for my birthday. Even sent here the link to the store where they are the cheapest. I am hoping I will score since I got her a Kindle for her birthday.

my micro sidewinder came in today. got it all programmed and ready to go. wired everything up. though, i did run into a small problem. i'm running a standard sized servo. i noticed that when i turn right, the wheel rubs against the servo. i dont know how i didnt notice it before while hooking it up. nor do i know why, once it was hooked up, i didnt turn the wheels by hand. so i gotta make/buy a new mount to center the servo. but, it'll do for now.

you might just have to turn the endpoints down on the top of you DX3E. You still should get good throw and it will help with the rubbing. You will also want to go with a smaller pinion like a 10t or even a 12, the stock 14t one you will see is too fast and almost uncontrolable.

i shall look into the smaller pinions. thanks for the tip. i just turned it on again and noticed im not getting full throw. the link that attaches to the servo is hitting the servo. so i can turn right all the way(though, it rubs) but i only get about 70% throw when i turn left due to that link hitting the servo. hmmm..LOL

edit. nevermind. i just dropped 1 hole down on the servo horn. so thats worked out. also found a 11t pinion, which is a lot better. thanks for the tip john.

With the exception of much needed rovers and a centered servo mount, its ready to go. I had it on the rocks once. These little rigs are a blast. Though, I really want a topless chassis for it.
