I would like to buy a 3 or 4 channel radio and reciever and I was wondering what would be a good choice. I don't want one that's really expensive. What does everyone think of a traxxis radio? Or does anyone have a spare one laying around?

personaly if your going to get one you might want to spend a little more and get one that is 2.4ghz
you could get a good cheap radio for $100
te dx3e is a good 3channel
it all depends on how much you want to spend

Futaba makes a good three channel, that has a lot of built in extras. I have the Futaba 3PMX 2.4gHz and love it.

The traxxas radio I was looking at is 4 channel and it's a 2.4 and it also has a 3 position switch. From tower hobbies it's $106 w/ a reciever.

That is pretty cheap. The Futaba is around $180. If it serves your needs, go for it!

But does the 3 pos switch have endpoints?

I have the DX3E and love it.

Here's RC4WD's XR4, only problem is it doesn't have endpoints for 3 and 4 http://rc4wdstore.com/2/product_info.php?products_id=1167

That's the radio I use. It works really good but no endpoints that I'm aware of.

Good radio for Go Fast trucks, not as great for crawlers. It has no servo end point settings on it, so fine tuning your dig servos is a pain. The DX3e is only 3 chan but has full control over servo endpoints. and for $99.99 brand new it's a steal. :) Comes with radio, receiver and a servo for that price. I don't know much about the Futuba other then I used to only run those back in the day.

The Futaba does all that, but costs 80 bones more. If you ever want to get into 4ws and all the mixing the Futaba has pre-set functions that make it easy.
