Changed the ESC to a Sea King 180a, added 10awg wire to everything, CC BEC, Spek MR3000, and a x642 prop. She'll be running on 4s LiPo ;)

Oh man, that thing is a beast! I too would like to see this thing run.

John, I think it runs on 4s...then again, I know nothing about boats. Well, except my vast knowledge of how to sink them. :)

Hey man u ever run a catamaran boat before???

Gimp
09-02-2011, 12:41 AM
Thanks fellas

Yes John, runs on LiPo. Just like with on/off road racers now adays, electric's faster than nitro/gas.

My first "toy" boat Ironman, been around the big stuff all my life though ;)

Ill be at peace valley park (lake galena) most of the time. Wont have any issues there, plus its only 15 minutes from the house and a 2 minute walk from the girlfriend's place.

Had the boat out twice this weekend. Very stable, extremely fast, and even more fun! Water was fairly choppy, really fun to play with the throttle to keep the boat in the water.

What are you gonna do if you flip it in the middle of the lake.

I have a rescue boat to tow her back in.

You should see him in his Geico sponsored speedo. LOL I would love to see some video of the boat running. I have a friend that makes courses by taking milk jugs and makes bouys by tying rope to them and a weight and places them on whatever lake he is at. Of course he has a boat to go out and place them and retrieve them.

Yeah man, I started watching TopGear BBC about the time you left crawling, and I haven't seen the STIG (or black Anti-STIG) in any of the episodes I've seen. What channel is your new TopBoat show on?

Maxwedge
09-05-2011, 03:13 PM
Oh Oh, I spoke too soon! The STIG just appeared! He's racing a new Honda Fit against 3 older sports cars (Porsche 944, Nissan 300Z and Ford Capri 2.8) and kicking their butts! Go STIG!

JSLICK

The Fit is a good base model car.

Ran the boat twice this weekend. What a BLAST! Water was pretty choppy which actually made it really fun and life-like. No pictures cause I was too busy having a good time.

I just got done 2 coats of epoxy on the inside. Also ordered a Kintech offset rudder bracket that should be here tomorrow "thumbsup"

Thanks Marc! Yes I'm really enjoying the boat. Not really missing the crawlers either, but it's nice to see the Bummer kicking a$$ in Switzerland!

Got the rest of my batteries and bracket finished up. I was able to cut 1/4" off the back where the bracket mounts to get a little more metal out of the prop wash. Just waiting on a few decals from an OSE member to make.

Thanks fellas. I wish I could run it and get some video. I'm out at school and have some very serious flooding going on (Harrisburg area). I'm a clean freak and the water's dirty, plus I guarantee there's alot of stuff in it to collide with.

I will try to get out on Sunday, but it's a very slim chance. I'll be home next weekend, definitely run her then!

Got some pictures and a short video this weekend. This boat is tough to take pictures of, I think it's because of the color. Dad was driving and we were at a small pond so the speeds in the video aren't 100%. Miss G is now under construction, blue printing the hull for improved running on plane and a small speed increase. Should be done at the end of the week, just alot of body work...

that is super fast, would like to see it on open water. Can you run it in the ocean or a bay? Or is it freshwater only?

I could run it in salt, just need to clean and flush it out afterwards. Probably never will cause I have a bunch of fresh water places to go.

Got the blue printing done today, also fixed a small crack in the right sponson tip across the tunnel, that's why the tips are painted. I also scored a new motor and cooling jacket, also ordered an upgraded flex cable and coupler to control all the new power. Boat is being set up to run mid-high 50's consistently. Paint is a metallic silver.
